Case against Greenbrier Co. commissioner on hold

Posted:

LEWISBURG (WVVA) - The case against a Greenbrier County commissioner is on hold.

Lawyers for Michael McClung have filed paperwork for a pretrial diversion agreement that may ultimately result in the case going away.

The agreement postpones the case for one year. If the commissioner obeys the law during that time, the charges will likely be dismissed.

McClung faces five charges, including forgery and conspiracy related to the sale of a vehicle last year.

According to the indictment, McClung sold a 1999 model Ford Expedition to Charles Scott of White Sulphur Springs for $3,000 but only reported selling it for $1,000 which defrauded the State of West Virginia tax revenue money from the sale of the vehicle.
