Bill Cole is a husband and father of four children. Bill has served his community and state in various capacities on charitable boards and as a member in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Currently, Bill serves on the board of the Greater Bluefield Development Authority, and the W. Paul Cole, Jr. School of Business at Bluefield State College.
Bill is a fifth generation businessman in the Bluefield area. He attended Northwood University where he earned a degree in business administration with a minor in accounting. Bill has since been recognized by Northwood as an Outstanding Alumnus.
Bill is an accomplished ATP Rated pilot with over 30 years experience. He holds numerous ratings including jet, rotorcraft and seaplane.
Bill began his business career in the commercial truck parts business. Bill's first big venture was building a multi-market supply company that became an industry leader and innovator. He also owned a remanufacturing Company, which ultimately did business worldwide and employed in excess of 100 employees.
In 2000 Bill purchased a Bluefield Nissan dealership and added a Honda dealership later that year. That location has expanded to four franchises and is now the home of the Bill Cole Automall. The Bill Cole Automall expanded in 2010 with the opening of a new location in Ashland, Kentucky. Bill has several other business interests, including a manufacturing company near Nashville, Tennessee. Currently these businesses provide jobs to more than 400 people.
Bill Cole's experience as a businessman and proven job creator uniquely qualifies him to offer sound common sense solutions to the many problems that plague West Virginia. It is his contention that most of these problems, including economic, social, and educational, can be solved, directly or indirectly, by bringing more and better jobs to West Virginia. Bill will work hard to end the culture of corruption and anti-business environment that hinders economic development in our state.
