Ferguson named Bluefield City Manager

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - The Bluefield City Board of Directors appointed Jim Ferguson as the new city manager.

Ferguson has served Bluefield and the region for years with Mountain Star LLC, which operates several Hardee's restaurants in West Virginia and the southeast United States.

Fergson's approval by the board comes with a strong recommendation from Mayor Linda Whalen.

"He has a lot of leadership qualities and a vast knowledge of business management," Whalen said.

Pat McKinney had been temporarily filling the void left in the city's government when previous interim city manager Brian Cochran stepped down to focus on his private practice.

Former city manager Andy Merriman resigned earlier this year.
