BECKLEY (WVVA) - Area residents are gathering Tuesday to remember the terror attacks of September 11, 2011.

A service was held at Woodlawn Park in Beckley, where a piece of steel from the World Trade Center is displayed.

At noon, a service was scheduled at Chicory Square in Bluefield.

A Parade of Lights will be held in Beckley Tuesday evening. The procession will begin at Lester Square in Sophia, turn onto Route 16 toward Beckley, culminating in a prayer ceremony at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex, off the East Beckley Bypass.

Over the weekend, the annual 9/11 First Responders service was held at the Bluefield Elks Club.

Community members and first responders gathered at David's at the Club to remember those lost and thank local heroes who go into the line of danger on a daily basis to keep citizens safe.
