BECKLEY (WVVA) - Approximately 60 firefighters from Raleigh and Fayette counties worked to contain a massive blaze following an explosion at a home in the Dry Hill area Friday evening.
The home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene off Harper Road, just outside of Beckley -- behind the Heartland Nursing Home -- around 7 p.m.
Smoke could be seen from up to 10 miles away.
The home was occupied at the time, but those inside were able to escape without injury.
The fire is believe to have started when a 100-pound air conditioning unit blew up.
