WVVA's current Chief Meteorologist Corey Henderson offered the following reflection on his time working with Stan Sweet on the WVVA Weather Facebook page, shortly after learning of Sweet's death Wednesday evening:
"I am saddened to learn that my old coworker and longtime entertainer Stan Sweet has passed on. He was a fixture here at WVVA for about 17 years I believe. I had the pleasure to work with Stan for about 8 of those.
Stan always had a way of putting a smile on your face on and off camera. I remember how he used to practice his quick draw outside the studio with wax bullets and him showing me whatever gun he had on him at the time. He would say this is the same gun James Bond used in such and such movie, etc.
We all of course will remember his colorful suits to match his just as colorful character. No matter what bad situation at work he was in wether it was the computer not working or what he always turned it into a funny routine. He made life entertaining!
I will miss him and all our hearts and prayers go out to his wife and family. Whenever I would do something for him he would say "your reward is in heaven, Corey." Well enjoy your reward Stan...God Bless you Stan."
