Missing drugs don't come up during council meeting

Posted:

BECKLEY (WVVA) - The city of Beckley held its first council meeting since the investigation into missing drugs from the police department's evidence room began and, surprisingly, the topic did not come up.

While the topic was not on the meeting's agenda, the public comment period allows citizens to address any topic they feel is important.

Councilman Cedric Robertson said he was surprised no one brought the subject up.

"With all the comments I've heard since this happened, people have come to me and are concerned, so it was a little surprising," he said.

Federal authorities stepped in last week to oversee an investigation at the Beckley Police Department after Chief Tim Deems ordered an inventory of the department's evidence room.
