CHARMCO, W. Va (WVVA)- Greenbrier West High School students and staff got to see the final additions and renovations to the school on the first day back. This project, according to Principal Randy Auvil, cost $20 million dollars to complete.
"We have a new gym, we have a new auditorium, we have a new media center," he said. "We just used our new auditorium for the first time [Monday] morning and it's so nice to have it here."
Auvil is excited for how the community can use the new spaces the school now has. He thinks this will really contribute to the area. The Greenbrier Valley Theatre is even thinking of working there, he told WVVA.
But the most important part-- the entire school is finally under one roof.
"You had to walk outside to get to the next building. Actually last year I slipped and fell because it was outside," said student Isaac Gutshall. Gutshall says this year he's expecting he won't have to be so cold in class in the winters, either.
"My senior year and it's done," said Gutshall. "And I get to enjoy it, I think that's what's so nice about it."
