WRISTON (WVVA) - A man was critically injured after he crashed his vehicle, which was then struck by another vehicle that fled the scene.
The crash occurred around 11:16 p.m. Monday when a vehicle driven by Ricky Petry, 53, of Kincaid, crashed on Route 61 in the Wriston area.
Investigators say Petry's crashed vehicle was then struck by another vehicle moments after the first accident. That vehicle fled the scene.
Petry was extricated from his vehicle and flown to Charleston Area Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.
The vehicle that fled the scene was located a short time later in the Robson area of Fayette County. The driver, Thomas A. Dent, 55 of Robson, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, no insurance, improper inspection decal, improper registration and two counts of seatbelt violation.
Dent was transported to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
Route 61 was closed for approximately one hour as crews cleared the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
