BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - One person is dead following a shooting in Bluefield.

Police Chief Joe Wilson tells WVVA News that Derek Tabor of Montcalm was fatally shot following an argument at a residence on 4th Street around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Wilson says that a friend of Tabor's brought him to the Bluefield Police Station after he was shot instead of calling 9-1-1.

"It's not normal," Wilson said.

The Police Department then called an ambulance who transported Tabor to Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

Wilson says that Tabor was a person of interest for other law enforcement agencies on criminal investigations.

Wilson says there are no suspects or motive at this time. The shooting remains under investigation.

WVVA News will have more details as they become available.
