WELCH (WVVA) - A McDowell County man will spend 15 years behind bars for the voluntary manslaughter of another man in 2010.
Akeem Rashed Dickerson received the sentence in McDowell County Court Monday. Dickerson was found guilty in the shooting death of 35-year-old Willie Adam Thompson in June 2010.
Dickerson also received a 5-year sentence for wanton endangerment. He was 18 at the time of the slaying.
According to previous WVVA.com reports, Thompson was fatally shot in the neck outside his residence in the Northfork area.
The sister-in-law of the victim told WVVA News the dispute was over a $25 debt.
