Wade Center fighting to keep doors open

Posted:

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - Volunteers were out in Bluefield Saturday, helping raise money to keep the Wade Center's doors open.

The center provides vital services such as free meals, tutoring and guidance for at-risk youth in the area, but officials say if $81,000 is not raised, the center can't reopen.

A bake sale was held outside Walmart in Bluefield, Va., to help raise funds. So far, approximately $15,000 has been collected.

The center will also be raising funds Friday at the Beaver-Graham game.
