1 killed, 8 injured in I-77 crash

CAMP CREEK (WVVA) - One person was killed in a deadly accident on Interstate 77 in Mercer County early Friday morning.

A minivan carrying nine people traveling south on I-77 near mile marker 21 flipped around 12:40 a.m.

One person died at the scene. The other eight occupants were transported to Princeton Community and Raleigh General hospitals.

The extents of their injuries is unknown.

Several police and fire departments responded to the scene.

The Turnpike division of the West Virginia State Police is investigating. The cause of the crash is unclear at this time.
