NARROWS, VA (WVVA) - 34 employees at the Celco Plant in Narrows are now laid off from work.
Layoffs began Wednesday, August 8th.
The employees work for Mundy Companies, a privately contracted business which provides contract and technical solutions for chemical, petrochemical and other industrial companies.
These employees provide regular maintenance to the Celco plant such as electric work, ironwork and scaffolding.
Celanese officials say that this is "a routine adjustment to the workforce." A rehire is expected as work becomes available for these employees.
The Celco Plant is located on Route 460 in Narrows, Virginia. The plant employees around 300 people.
Products made at the Celco Plant include cellulose acetate, flake, filament, and tow.
