Local United Way encourages you to Stuff the Bus

Posted:
NEWS RELEASE:

According to the National Retail Federation, parents will spend an estimated $600.00 per child this year for back-to-school items.  For some parents, that can be an incredible hardship but their kids still need to be ready for school.

The average teacher also spends over $500 of his/her own money on necessary supplies for the classrooms used year around.

On August 10th and 11th the United Way of the Virginias Stuff the Bus teams will be headquartered outside local retail stores such as Kmart of Bluefield, Big Lots in Princeton and Magic Mart in Tazewell.   Their goal is to collect as many school supplies as possible to help kids and teachers in Mercer, McDowell and Tazewell counties.

Monetary donations are also welcome and can be sent to Stuff the Bus c/o United Way at 430 ½ Virginia Avenue, Bluefield, VA.  Donors are welcome to designate to the county where they'd like the donation to be used.

More information is available by contacting the United Way of the Virginias at 276-322-2606.
