TAZEWELL (WVVA) - Authorities are aggressively seeking a fugitive who's evaded capture in Tazewell County.
Christopher Ronnie Sturgill is a 27-year-old white male. He is 6'0" tall and weighs 190-200 pounds with red/blonde long hair and hazel eyes.
His last known address is 161 Miller Street in North Tazewell, but has been seen repeatedly in the Bishop area.
Police say Sturgill was alleged to have boarded a bus in Wytheville on Aug. 6 or 7 to travel to either Texas or Georgia, but police have determined that was a hoax.
Police plan to pursue charges against the person that reported the false information to authorities.
Sturgill is wanted on a probation violation, two counts of failure to appear and assault and battery. Police say Sturgill has an extensive criminal background and is a danger to communities.
Police are not sure if Sturgill is armed but consider him dangerous. Police say Sturgill has told people he is not going back to jail and will fight the police.
