BECKWITH (WVVA) - Authorities in Fayette County are investigating a reported abduction involving two juvenile girls Monday morning.
Fayette County 911 received a call around 1:39 a.m. Monday concerning two children who had possibly been abducted by a truck driver. The initial report stated one child had escaped while the other was still being held.
Deputies were able to make contact with the alleged victims and determined that no abduction occurred. Deputies say the two females were walking along Route 16 when they accepted a ride from an individual driving a flat-bed tractor trailer.
Police say the individual drove the girls to the Cotton Hill public fishing area where they became uncomfortable with the situation and ran away.
The girls became separated from each other and the first female to reach help reported that her friend may have been abducted.
There are no criminal charges against the driver at this time, but police would like to speak with him about the incident.
The man, who identified himself to the females as 'Chris,' is described as a white male, 6'0" tall with a large stomach and mustache. He has short, light brown hair and is estimated to be 40-50 years old.
The man was wearing a light blue shirt with writing over the right chest area, and black cargo pants. He was driving a truck with a white cab and lettering on the door.
