Trial delay sought for Mass. woman posing as boy

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WVVA) -- Federal prosecutors want to delay the trial of a Massachusetts woman accused of posing as a boy to prey on a West Virginia girl.

They say the social networking site MySpace has failed to respond to multiple search warrants that could produce important evidence.

Twenty-five-year-old Carissa Hads of Quincy has pleaded not guilty to on one count of traveling in interstate commerce to engage in illegal sexual conduct. She's scheduled to be tried in September.

But prosecutors filed a motion Wednesday to postpone, saying MySpace has ignored several warrants seeking communications between Hads and the victim.

Investigators say Hads pretended to be a 17-year-old boy and began an online relationship with the girl in 2010. She visited the teen at least three times and had a sexual encounter in February.
