ROANOKE, Va. (WVVA) -- A Roanoke man is facing bomb-making charges linked to an explosion in Blacksburg.

Virginia State Police arrested 23-year-old Derick Gregory Wilson on Wednesday evening. He's charged with possession of bomb-making material.

A pipe bomb exploded early Wednesday near several vehicles parked behind an apartment complex in Blacksburg. No one was injured. One vehicle was damaged.

State police Sgt. Rob Carpentieri says the investigation of the Blacksburg explosion led troopers to obtain a search warrant for a family member's residence in Roanoke.

Carpentieri says Wilson also faces charges in Blacksburg. He didn't know Thursday morning what those charges.

A call to the Blacksburg Police Department wasn't immediately returned.

Wilson is being held without bond in the Roanoke City Jail.
