W.Va. gov urges public service Sept. 29

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVVA) -- Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is asking West Virginians to participate in a day of service in September.

He's proclaimed Sept. 29 as the Governor's Day to Serve to encourage volunteer service. Tomblin is encouraging community organizations, faith-based groups and others to participate in the day of service.

Tomblin said Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., are also participating in the day dedicated to volunteerism.
