The Main Street Cafe in Tazewell is now closed. According to owner Sharon Thomas, who did not want to speak to WVVA News on camera, the restaurant had been open for eight years, and business was going well. Thomas says she owns several different businesses in the area, and she felt the need to let go of some. Although not everyone in Tazewell had eaten there, the Main Street Cafe was known for their good food.
"I heard that they have really good cheese fries, I heard they were really great."
Vilacha also says it is upsetting to see the Main Street Cafe close its doors, and not just because of the good food.
"I think its really sad, its devastating, because I know it brought jobs into the community. It was a good place for people to go and hang out and eat."
According to Thomas, the VIP Room will remain open, and this will allow employees of the Main Street Cafe to keep their jobs. Thomas also decided to close another one of her businesses, the General Store. Thomas says these closures are not final yet, and Vilacha hopes for the best.
"I hope, you know, maybe they can get back on their feet or reopen."
