Bluefield (WVVA) --A former Princeton High School football players is sentenced to 20 years in prison for the second degree murder of his father.
Tevin Allen, 19, of Princeton was also given five years probation following his release.
Allen originally claimed he killed his father, James Scott, 35, in self-defense. Scott was shot to death near a vacant lot on High Street in Princeton in August 2011.
"That was my son and that's my grandson. I didn't want to see my grandson go to prison for life but I did want to see him do outside of the Anthony Center so I'm satisfied with the Judge with the sentence. I'm very satisfied with it," says Allen's grandmother Mary Brown.
Allen apologized to his family during the emotional hearing.
