Mercer County Asks Your Help on Illegal Dumping

Posted:

PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) -- Mercer County officials are asking residents to report illegal dumping when they see it occurring.

County officials say illegal dumping is a continuing problem. They say that once one area has been cleaned of trash, a new dumping ground emerges.

Mercer County Commissioner Mike Vinciguerra is urging residents to call the commission when they see someone illegal dumping.

Bill Jessee is regional executive director for the Mercer County Day Report Center. He said a typical month might yield one or two reports of dumping, but crews are steadily picking up trash along county roads.

Crews can't pick up every illegal dump they find but they try to respond to the public's requests.
