Man Hit by Train in Fayette County

BOOMER (WVVA)--- A man was hit by a train late Friday night in Fayette County and was taken by helicopter to Charleston.

According to Sheriff Steve Kessler of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Christopher Manley of Boomer was hit by a train owned by Norfolk-Southern Railroad Company.

When crews arrived on scene, Manley had suffered extensive injuries to his lower body and was take to Charleston where he is listed as being in stable condition.

Sheriff Kessler says that it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved. But he did say that the no charges are being filed against the engineer of the train.

The accident is still under investigation.
