Gun Sales Steady in WV after Movie Shootings

Posted:

PRINCETON (WVVA)--- Gun sales throughout the country started to go up after the shootings in Aurora, Colorado left 12 dead and many others wounded. However sales in southern West Virginia have not increased by much.

In talking with various gun stores throughout the area WVVA has learned that there has not been a significant increase to sales in the area unlike sales in other parts of the country.

"We haven't really seen any increase around here locally. We are kind of in the summer slow down. And I think it is especially bad because of the economy," said Jerry Dove the owner of Dove's Custom Guns in Princeton.

However one thing that has gone up is the amount of people that are taking concealed weapons classes.

"It is a hodge podge, we have a lot of female students, I had a lady who was 83 years old in my class," says Dove.

"I also had a young man who was 14 who took the class even though you cant get your permit until you're 21. We see everyone in between, doctors, mechanics, coal miners."
