WAR (WVVA) - The city of War as appointed an interim mayor in the wake of the alleged murder of longtime officeholder Tom Hatcher.
Kitten Cempella, the city's clerk for the past 10 years, will serve the remainder of Hatcher's term, which expires next June.
Cempella says the residents of War are devastated by Hatcher's death and city leaders are trying to do the best they can to move forward with projects that were dear to his heart.
War will continue its efforts to improve water and sewage service and keep alive the dream of building a new ATV trail.
