BRENTON (WVVA) - Deputes in Wyoming County say a child has been struck by a vehicle on the shoulder of Route 97 in Brenton, West Virginia.

The driver of a jeep wrangler was parked on the side of the highway and somehow put the vehicle in reverse, striking the child.

Charges are pending against the driver.

The child suffered multiple injuries and was flown to a Regional Trauma Center.
Investigators say those injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

WVVA News' Robert Pauley was on the scene. We will have more details as they become available.
