WELCH (WVVA) - McDowell County surveyor Randy Mullins is not your average public office holder. Not only does he face challenges on the job, he faces challenges in everyday life.
Mullins suffers from cerebral palsy, which greatly hinders his communication skills and mobility. But that hasn't stopped him from serving McDowell County.
Those who work regularly with Mullins marvel at the sharpness of his mind. They say he enjoys the seriousness of his job with the county and the challenges that come with it.
Despite his physical disabilities, coworkers say Mullins does not expect to be treated any differently.
Mullins has proven time and again nothing is out of reach, even finding love. In May, Mullins married his wife who he has known for 40 years.
