BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) -- Mountain State University is telling some students to consider transferring to other schools.
In an announcement posted on its website on Tuesday, the school said that students who still need a substantial amount of course work to earn a degree "are encouraged to consider other educational institutions." The statement says that only students expecting to finish programs this fall are encouraged to enroll at all.
The Charleston Daily Mail reports that it's the first time the school has addressed the concern questions since the school lost its accreditation.
The Higher Learning Commission announced last week it would revoke Mountain State's accreditation because of ongoing leadership, organizational and integrity issues. The act officially takes effect Aug. 27, but the school has said it plans to appeal.
