The Tazewell Lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose is helping out their community by making it safer.
"Tonight they gave a check for $12,800 I believe to buy new weapons and holsters for the Tazewell PD."
Supreme Governor Henderson says this isn't the first time this lodge is assisting local law enforcement officers.
"They had previously purchased them for the sheriff's department, some $28,000 worth, to make sure policemen are properly armed with good weapons and good serviceable firearms."
Chief DeWitt Cooper of the Tazewell Police Department is grateful for the donation, and says this money will help the community in more ways than just a safer community.
"We're going to be able to use this donation rather than taking money out of the budget. We're going to be able to use this donation to buy the weapons, and the money that's in the budget we'll be able to use on other things in the community to keep people safe."
This fraternity believes in helping others, and Supreme Governor Henderson says he is not surprised this specific lodge is making an impact on their community.
"The Loyal Order of Moose wants to be the heart of the community as much as we can. There's some lodges that step forward and do a better job like Tazewell has done, and they actually lead the way here in the state of Virginia."
