LEWISBURG, W.Va. – What do you get when you cross a ransom note, duplicate prints, a mysterious invitation and a delicious chicken curry?
Greenbrier Valley Theatre's newest production, The Frugal Repast, which the New York Times describes as a "Lovely, compact tale that is thoughtful without being show-offy, stimulating without being heavy-handed."
This witty show transports the audience to the 1913 Paris art scene where they are entertained by some pretty impressive folks including Pablo Picasso, Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas.
Throw in two impoverished circus entertainers and you've got what promises to be a very eventful evening.
The plot of the show features the two circus entertainers depicted in Picasso's etching "The Frugal Repast" swiping the print for ransom. If Picasso can make money from their likeness, why can't they?
