Fayette Co. Sheriff's Office receives funding to fight drug trafficking

FAYETTEVILLE (WVVA) - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office has received a pair of grants to aid in their crime-fighting efforts.

The department was awarded $20,000 from the West Virginia Division of Justice and Community Resources that is earmarked for use in the county's investigation of cases involving prescription drug trafficking.

Sheriff Steve Kessler says the money will go toward the purchase of specialized surveillance equipment and forensic software to be used in investigations.

The county also received an additional $13,327 in federal grand funding is to be used for the purchase of new portable radios.
