W.Va. food banks get donation from AARP

Posted:

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia food banks have received a $20,000 donation to help replenish supplies that were depleted by recent storm relief efforts.

AARP West Virginia and the AARP Foundation announced Thursday the donation is being split between the Mountaineer Food Bank and the Huntington Area Food Bank.

The donation is part of AARP's Drive to End Hunger, a national effort to address hunger among older adults.

Storms that began June 29 left an estimated 1.4 million of the state's 1.8 million residents without power at some point.
