Bluefield area kids interested in band have a great opportunity beginning this week. Dr. Mary Woodbury is offering a free band camp for students in Bluefield Intermediate, Brushfork and Bluewell schools.
Rising fifth graders are especially encouraged to attend the beginners class. It's designed to give fifth graders a head-start before the upcoming school year. Beginners do not have to have an instrument to attend. If they enjoy the camp and want to continue, they'll have the option to rent or buy an instrument later.
The band camp is in the Bluefield Middle School band room. Beginners meet from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM. Sixth graders meet from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM. Seventh and eighth graders meet from 1:00 PM-2:30 PM.
