RUPERT(WVVA) - A woman's ashes are stolen from her parents home during a burglary in Greenbrier County.
Hundreds of dollars worth of items were stolen such as jewelry and a hunting bow, but family is now offering a reward for the return of their daughters ashes.
The burglary happened between June 23rd and 24th at the Hanson family home in Rupert on Rock Cliff Road.
The couple had been away for days after owner Jody Hanson was severely injured in a farming accident. Hanson was hospitalized after he was run over by a tractor.
When Jennifer Hanson returned to her home, she discovered that her house was broken into and numerous items were stolen, including her daughters ashes.
Daughter, Jilliaene Lucretia Osborne died at age 19. Mother, Jennifer Hanson says she was severely mentally and physically handicapped. Now she fears she will never see her daughters remains again.
"I know that was my earthly daughter, not my spiritual daughter. But it was all that I had left.
Now the one thing I had left of her that I could hold on to has been taken from me," Hanson said.
Corporal Will Nester of the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case.
The family is offering a reward to anyone with information of the person responsible or information of the whereabouts of the urn.
The urn is described as green, marble color with a gold ribbon, with "Jillaene Osborne" labeled on top.
Hanson says the urn and her daughters ashes are irreplaceable.
"If anyone can help me - please help me do anything you can to help me get these things back."
