BECKLEY (WVVA) - A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting in a Beckley apartment complex.
Police received reports of shots fired at the Willbrian Apartments around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. Upon arrival they found 18-year-old Steve Lawson with a gunshot wound in the leg.
Lawson was taken to Raleigh General Hospital and later transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center.
23-year-old Derrick Mitchell was arrested later that afternoon. He is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail.
