NY to Chicago train blocked in Fayette County

Posted:

PRINCE (WVVA) - An Amtrak train carrying 232 passengers on a trip from New York to Chicago was stalled in Fayette County due to Friday's devastating storms.

Amtrak spokesman Steve Kulm says the train was stopped around 11 p.m. Friday due to fallen trees blocking the tracks.

Buses were being brought in from Pennsylvania to pick up the stranded passengers and take them to their destinations.

Kulm said the train has power, so lights and air conditioning were working. The long-distance train was stocked with food and crew members were able to get more in the nearby town of Prince.

Passengers were expected to be on buses late Saturday evening.
