CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - With the forecast calling for temperatures flirting with triple digits over the next few days, Kanawha County emergency officials want to make sure residents are ready for the swelter.

County homeland security and emergency management officials are conducting a news conference on Friday to provide the public with guidance on how to withstand the extraordinary hot, dry conditions expected this upcoming weekend.

The forecast is predicting temperatures in the upper 90s on Friday and 100-degrees-plus on Saturday.

Besides homeland security, public health officials and the ambulance authority will join in the news conference to provide the public with guidance on how to weather the extreme temperatures.
