BLUEFIELD, WV (WVVA) - A Mercer County man was arrested this week for cultivating marijuana.
John Darby, 27, of Bluefield, West Virginia was arrested Wednesday for cultivating approximately 64 marijuana plants in his home.
The Bluefield Police Department responded to an anonymous tip from someone who just happened to see the plants growing in a window on Lyndale Drive while doing some scrap work in the neighborhood.
Upon executing a search warrant, the Bluefield Police made an arrest, charging Darby with cultivating marijuana.
However, Darby was released on a $10,000 bond.
The Bluefield Police say this was a great victory for their department.
"These things are not off the radar. It is substantial for us," Lt. Dennis Dillow said, "Anytime you can remove anything like that, especially of that quantity, it is a good thing for our community."
