Fire destroys Tazewell County home

Posted:

TAZEWELL (WVVA) - A Tazewell County home has been completely destroyed by fire.

The blaze began around 9 a.m. at the home on Beachwood Road in the Whitten Valley area of Tazewell County.

Two women who lived at the residence -- a mother and daughter -- escaped without injury. They were sitting on the porch when the fire broke out.

Five fire departments responded to the scene, including a member of the affected family who is a firefighter.

The cause remains under investigation, but authorities at the scene suspected it could be electrical in nature due to the age of the home.

The mother and daughter are staying at a hotel with help from the Red Cross.

Donations for the family are being accepted at the Crab Orchard Veterinarian's Office.
