Mercer County teacher killed in lawnmower accident

PRINCETON (WVVA) - Funeral arrangements have been made for a Mercer County educator who was killed in a lawnmower accident.

Eva Darlene Adkins, 57, died Sunday at her home on Ingleside Road in Princeton when her riding lawnmower flipped, trapping her underneath.

Authorities with the West Virginia State Police said the accident occurred between noon and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Adkins was discovered by her son around 3 p.m.

Adkins was a longtime teacher for Mercer County Schools.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
