TALCOTT (WVVA) - The famous John Henry statue in Summers County has officially been moved to its new location.

The statue was removed from its original pedestal off Route 3 on April 25, after repeated vandalism.

Since then, the statue has undergone extensive repairs. The statue now resides on a new pedestal near the Mouth of the Great Bend Tunnel in Talcott. Officials say the statue will be safer there.

The day also marked the end of phase one of the development of the John Henry Historical Park.

Officials feel the rich history surrounding the legend of John Henry will attract many visitors to the new park.

Developers have already begun raising funds for phase two of the park. If you are interested in making a donation, you can send an email to this address.
