BLUEFIELD, VA (WVVA)-- More people today are only carrying a debit or credit card instead of cash. However, what many people don't know is that when they use a card it costs small businesses a fee.
That fee can be anywhere from 1.5% to 3%. Local business owners say the majority of their sales are now paid for by a card.
Small business owners in the area also say they would rather have people pay with a card than a check. They have had an issue with bad checks and it is an expensive process to go through.
