Meteorologist-WVVA News Today, Noon

Brian Walder

Brian Walder joined the WVVA Precision Weather Team in May 2012 as the Weekend Meteorologist. As a kid growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Brian was always fascinated by the weather. Actually, it was his fear of lightning that "sparked" his interest in weather. Instead of watching cartoons on weekends, Brian could be found watching the Weather Channel for hours at a time.

Brian attended Penn State and received a degree in meteorology in May 2012. While at Penn State, he was an active member of Campus Weather Service, the world's largest student run weather organization, was an on-air talent for the show Weather or Not, a student-run weather show aired in Centre County, Pa., and was also on air for Weather World, a state-wide weather show in Pennsylvania. Outside of weather, Brian loved Penn State football, and never missed a home game in his four years in Happy Valley. Also, he camped out in Paternoville for front row seats for 8 games. His favorite memory from college was being a part of THON, which is Penn State's 46 hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon which raises money to fight pediatric cancer.

In addition to shows he did at Penn State, Brian gained valuable experience in TV during his internship at WWAY in Wilmington, N.C.. Outside of work, Brian enjoys playing many sports, and cheering on his Philadelphia and Penn State teams. He also enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family, and sailing.

Brian is excited to be here in the Two Virginias. For the latest weather information you can follow Brian on twitter at @BWalder_WVVA.
