LEWISBURG (WVVA) - Sheriff Jim Childers learned who his opponent will be on the November ballot.
Jan Cahill defeated Steve Malcomb on the Democrat ticket Tuesday, receiving nearly 78 percent of the vote.
Cahill will now face Childers, who was unopposed on the GOP ticket, in the fall.
In the assessor's race, Democrat Steven Keadle won on his party's ticket with 3,356 votes to William Butler's 1,236. No Republican filed.
In the magistrate contest, Brenda Campbell, Brenda Smith and Charles Beard earned nominations. They will join uncontested Republican John Reed on the November ballot.
Woody Hanna won the nomination for County Commission - Western District, receiving 2,170 votes. J.K. Rose was second with 1,570 and Betty Crookshanks third with 1,145.
In the Board of Education contest, Stephen Baldwin Jr. and Robert Toothman won the nominations with 2,984 and 2,760 votes respectively. Hazel Reed collected 2,580 votes while Tina Jo Dunbar received 2,144.
