Posted:

TAZEWELL (WVVA) - Several schools dismissed early Thursday as waters rose across the region.

McDowell County schools began dismissing early around noon. Tazewell County schools dismissed at 1:30 p.m.

Tazewell County 911 says the Bishop, Richlands, and North Tazewell areas were particularly affected by high water.

Three buses from Oakvale, PikeView Middle and PikeView high schools in Mercer County took students home early.

Students in the Pax, Long Branch, Plum Orchard and Weirwood areas of Fayette County were also sent home because of high waters.

WVVA viewers in the Wyoming County areas of Pineville and Hanover also reported rising streams.

WVVA will have more throughout the evening as new developments come in.
