Bluefield State wins WVIAC Championship

For the first time in school history, Bluefield State mens tennis are WVIAC Champions.

The Big Blues topped West Virginia Wesleyan 5-3 Sunday evening.

Bluefield State won two of three doubles matches. WV Wesleyan battled back in singles, but the Big Blues held on.

1. Vlad Catlan/Niklas Sparr (BSC) def. Aitor Reparaz/Joel Izquierdo 9-7
2. Shikhar Kapur/Piotr Kruk (BSC) def. Javier Yim Kim/Eduard Gusevs 8-3
3. Douglas Oliveira/Nathan Savil (WVWC) def. Gautam Sreeram/Conner Pickering (BSC) 8-2

1. Kapur def. Yim Kim 6-1, 1-6, 6-2
2. DNF
3. Izquierdo def. Kruk 5-7, 6-4, 7-5
4. Oliveira def. Pickering 7-6 (3), 6-2
5. Sparr def. Reparez 6-4, 6-1
6. Sreeram def. Savil 6-4, 6-0
