SMITHERS (WVVA) - A police officer with a Kanawha County department has been arrested on a drug charge in Fayette County.

Donald Scott Wills, 43, of Smithers has been charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver after police say he was observed purchasing drugs from an informant.

Wills is employed with the Glasgow Police Department. He currently worked as an officer with the Smithers Police Department.

The arrest was made Wednesday night during a sting operation at a residence in Smithers. Wills allegedly purchased 30 oxycodone pills from the informant who had previously told police that the officer had purchased drugs from him while in uniform.

Wills was wearing street clothes and not operating a police vehicle at the time of his arrest Wednesday.

Investigators say the drug deal was witnessed by officers concealed within the residence.

Wills is being held on $25,000 bond at Southern Regional Jail.
