At the peak of outages, more than 60,000 customers were without electricity.

Appalachian Power spokesman Phil Moye told WVVA News Tuesday that customers could expect all service to be restored in Mercer County by Friday.

More than half of the customers still affected were in Mercer County, which received several inches of snow Sunday.

There were also outages in Fayette, McDowell, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers and Wyoming counties in West Virginia and Tazewell, Bland, Giles, Wythe and Buchanan counties in Virginia.
