BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - The number of residents in the Two Virginias without electricity continued to steadily declined Wednesday as crews worked across the region to restore service.
Only 3,400 Appalachian Power customers in southern West Virginia and Southwest Virginia remained without electricity Wednesday in the wake of a winter storm. Tuesday began with more than 21,000 without service.

At the peak of outages, more than 60,000 customers were without electricity.
Appalachian Power spokesman Phil Moye told WVVA News Tuesday that customers could expect all service to be restored in Mercer County by Friday.
More than half of the customers still affected were in Mercer County, which received several inches of snow Sunday.
There were also outages in Fayette, McDowell, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers and Wyoming counties in West Virginia and Tazewell, Bland, Giles, Wythe and Buchanan counties in Virginia.
