Remains identified as missing Wyoming County woman

PINEVILLE (WVVA) - Relatives of a missing Wyoming County woman can no begin the healing process with closure, now that human remains found last October have been identified as that of their loved one.

According to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department remains found in a cemetery in Matheny in 2011 have been positively identified as 37-year-old Rachel Toler.

The state medical examiner contacted the sheriff's department Friday with the news. The Smithsonian Institute made the positive identification.

Toler was one of several missing persons reported in Wyoming County. She was last seen on Aug. 9, 2011, leaving with a man from Greenbrier County, according to previous reports.

There are currently three other active missing persons cases in the county.

Brian Cook, 37, was last seen July 28 in the Lynco area. He is 5'9" tall with brown hair and hazel eyes.

34-year-old Sherry Myers was reported missing to the sheriff's department on Aug. 23. She is 5'7", 170 pounds and has short black hair.

Chester Stewart, 49, went missing on Aug. 6, but was reported missing to the sheriff's department last week. Chester Stewart, 49, was last seen Aug. 6 in his hometown of Matheny. He is 6'2" and weighs more than 200 pounds.

The body of 39-year-old Roger Lee Browning Jr. was found near the Guyandotte River in Baileysville earlier this month.
